Soft Sensors
Generally speaking, we will designate as a soft sensor, a sensor for which all or part of the measurement function (by measurement is understood, the measurement itself, the processing and the transmission) is carried out. e by a computer system. Thus, the following two families can be defined:

Smart sensors
These are sensors in which the measurement is made in a conventional manner but which have additional functionalities (autocalibration, communication, etc.) produced by a microprocessor. We are in the case of a direct measurement with additional functionalities.

Virtual sensors
Estimation of a quantity from measurements of other more accessible quantities. We are then in the case of an indirect measurement.

Applications

Position and speed estimation in electrical machines.
Electrical based position estimation for Order Tracking
Development of virtual sensors for industrial processes (compressors, ovens, pumps).
